Live Life Local in Albany County to Celebrate Area Businesses and Non-Profits

Live Life Local will be held on Sunday, September 28 at the Times Union Center from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m

It's a celebration featuring Albany County local businesses from non-profits to food vendors; hair stylists to healthcare; from a local brew company to a local magazine.  Some businesses will offer samples and sell their products while others will hand out information on what services they offer.  Various Albany County departments will have display tables to highlight the services offered to residents.

Additionally, Live Life Local will feature a live performance by Delmar native Dani Moz who was a finalist on "The Voice," and a meet and greet with local finalist Tumi Oguntala from "The Biggest Loser."

Albany County Executive Daniel P. McCoy launched the first Live Life Local event 11/3/13 as part of the county's 330th birthday celebration.  "Local business is the backbone of our economy," said McCoy.  "We continue to come out of this last Great Recession one job at a time, one business at a time.  Our small, local businesses are a big reason and we need to celebrate who they are and what they do."

Live Life Local attracted 1,000 visitors to the TU Center in 2013.  Over 2,500 people are expected to attend this year's event.  Several other complimentary events are being held downtown by our partners to encourage people to come down for one attraction and visit all.  The Downtown Albany BID is holding a Food Fight- "Meat"ball Edition competition where restaurants, pubs and vendors will sell their "meat"balls (not necessarily meat based) to see which is best.  The Riverfront will feature the Halfmoon for visitors to learn about its rich history.

A sample of this year's vendors:  A Touch of Class Limo, Albany Medical Center, Honest Weight Food Co-op, CDTA, Hair Journeys, The Tailored Tea, We do Fondue, Albany Pump Station, Community Caregivers, Worldlings Pleasure and Mountain Winds Farm.
