Albany Man Possessed 631 Heroin Baggies to Sell, Pleads Guilty

District Attorney P. David Soares announced that ORLANDO HUGHES, 34, of Albany, pleaded guilty to (1) Count of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Third  Degree, a Class B Felony, before the Honorable Judge Stephen W. Herrick in Albany County Court this morning.

An investigation led by the Albany Police Department uncovered that on February 20, 2013, at about 10:00am at an apartment at 22 Trinity Place in the City of Albany, HUGHES did possess over 631 baggies of heroin with the intent to sell them.



Jury selection in the trial against HUGHES was scheduled to begin Monday morning.

HUGHES faces up to 8 years in State Prison, when sentenced on November 3, 2014. 

Assistant District Attorney Kurt Haas of the Street Crimes Unit is handling the prosecution of this case.
