Townsend Park Residents Recognized for Contributions to the City-Wide Food Drive

ALBANY, NY - - Today, Mayor Kathy Sheehan will present a proclamation in recognition of the outstanding efforts by residents of Townsend Park Homes in collecting a substantial number of donations during the city-wide food drive that was held from July 28 to August 8.

During the city-wide food drive, the Mayor challenged various collection sites to team up for a good cause and encouraged community engagement toward the effort of fighting hunger.

Despite the fact that Townsend was not one of the designated collection sites, the Townsend residents on their own initiative went above and beyond the Mayor’s call to “do a small part in making a huge difference for local families.”

The City of Albany collected a total of 2300 lbs of food during the drive and the Townsend residents contributed 1200 lbs to that total.

The Mayor will present the proclamation at 10:30 AM in the Community Room of the Townsend Park Homes.
