Free Event Every Wednesday in Albany: September in the City Art Fair

SEPTEMBER IN THE CITY ART FAIR RETURNS TO TRICENTENNIAL PARK TODAY The free art show series, held 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. every Wednesday in September, kicks off at 11:30 a.m.

ALBANY, NY - The City of Albany presents the 2014 September in the City Art Fair series, September Wednesdays in Downtown Albany’s Tricentennial Park. A midday showcase for local art, music and culture, September in the City features exhibits and work available for purchase from regional mixed media artists and crafters, with a different live musical act providing the soundtrack each week. The September in the City Art Fair is sponsored by Albany Center Gallery and Exit 97.7.

Today’s September in the City Art Fair features live music by:
Steve Candlen

Steve Candlen’s songs are guided by his soulful singing and the kind of solid rhythm guitar you'd expect from a man who spent most of his musical career playing drums in bands including Felix Cavaliere's Rascals. Perhaps the only Capital Region musician to have the distinction of being voted Best Male Vocalist in Metroland one year and Best Drummer the next, these days the multi-talented Candlen performs solo on his funky old archtop guitar. Times Union’s David Malachowski called his latest album, Red, a “compelling, inventive record that will surprise many, and satisfy more.”
