Purse Snatching Identity Thief from Schenectady Sentenced

 District Attorney P. David Soares announced that JENNIFER L. WILDER, 34, of Schenectady, was sentenced to 2 to 4 years in State Prison, before the Honorable Peter A. Lynch in Albany County Court this morning.

On August 22, 2014, WILDER pleaded guilty to (1) Count of Identity Theft in the First Degree, a Class D Felony.



On June 18, 2014, WILDER did unlawfully steal a purse and wallet from a victim who was giving her a ride in the City of Albany.  WILDER then assumed the identity of the victim and made purchases with the victim’s debit card at multiple locations within the City of Albany.  The defendant was apprehended later that same day by the Albany Police Department.  

Assistant District Attorney Philip Apruzzese of the Financial Crimes Bureau prosecuted this case.
