Albany Man Gets 7 1/2 Years for Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance

District Attorney P. David Soares announced that SERGE FRANCOIS, 34, of Albany, was sentenced to a total of 7 1/2 years in State Prison, to be followed by 3 years Post-Release Supervision, before the Honorable Stephen W. Herrick in Albany County Court yesterday morning.

On September 11, 2014, FRANCOIS pleaded guilty to (1) Count of Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree, a Class B Felony, in addition to a Drug Court Violation.

An ongoing investigation led by the Albany Police Department found that on September 20, 2012, SERGE sold a quantity of crack cocaine for a sum of US currency.  SERGE was immediately arrested after the sale by the Albany Police Department and the narcotics tested positive for crack cocaine.

Assistant District Attorney Kurt Haas of the Street Crimes Unit is prosecuting this case.
