Capital View Casino Congratulates Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Capital Region on 50 Years of Serving Local Youth

Capital View Casino & Resort is the Gold Sponsor of Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Capital Region’s Annual “Fall into Spirits” Fundraiser, Proceeds from Which Will Help Create More Big-Little Matches in the Capital Region

(East Greenbush, NY) – On the day of their “Fall into Spirits” fundraiser, Capital View Casino & Resort congratulated Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Capital Region on 50 years of serving Capital Region youth. Capital View is proud to be this year’s Fall into Spirits Gold Level Sponsor.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Capital Region (BBBSCR) serves 650 local at-risk youth each year in Albany, Rensselaer, Saratoga and Schenectady Counties by matching them with an adult mentor. The program provides children facing adversity with strong and enduring, professionally supported one-to-one relationships that will help change their lives for the better. Mentors, known as “Bigs,” and youth, known as “Littles,” meet twice a month for a minimum of one year, though many matches stay in touch for years or even decades.

Capital View’s Gold Level $10,000 donation comes at a critical time – BBBSCR has a current waiting list of 200 at-risk youth who have not yet been matched with Bigs due to funding needs and a shortage of mentors.

Rita Cox, Senior Vice President of Marketing and External Affairs at Saratoga Casino and Raceway said: “Capital View Casino & Resort is proud to be this year’s Gold Level Sponsor for the Big Brothers Big Sisters Fall into Spirits Fundraiser. Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Capital Region has had a tremendous impact on thousands of young men and women throughout our area, and we’re glad to be able to help facilitate more matches between Bigs and Littles.”

Sabrina Houser, Chief Executive Officer of Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Capital Region said: “The relationships formed through Big Brothers Big Sisters truly lay the foundation for a safer, more prosperous community. With 200 local youth on the waiting list for a match, this generous donation from Capital View Casino & Resort will go a long way to helping us connect Bigs and Littles in the Capital Region.”

Saratoga Casino and Raceway and Churchill Downs Incorporated, the organizations partnering on Capital View Casino & Resort have strong histories of working with, and giving back to their communities. Saratoga Casino and Raceway has given more than $2.5 million to Capital Region non-profits since 2004. Churchill Charities directs up to $2 million annually to local non-profits, and its employees provide thousands of volunteer hours in their communities each year. In May, Capital View announced plans to establish a 12-member community foundation to support charitable and public benefit organizations throughout the Capital District.
