Albany Fire Department Promotions


Sheehan & Abriel to promote 3 in the Department of Fire & Emergency Services

ALBANY, NY - Mayor Kathy Sheehan & Chief Warren W. Abriel, Jr., will promote Deputy Chief Joseph J. Toomey to Executive Deputy Chief of the Department of Fire & Emergency Services at a ceremony at City Hall on Friday, October 3, 2014 at 3:00PM. Being promoted to the rank of Deputy Chief is Captain Joseph Gregory and Lieutenant Edmund J. Seney.

Toomey, a lifelong resident of the City of Albany is a 26 year veteran of the Albany Fire Department.  Gregory is also a 26 year veteran, having been sworn onto the Albany Fire Department on July 27, 1988 in the same class as Deputy Chief Toomey.  Seney, a city resident, is a second generation firefighter and has been on the Albany Fire Department 24 years.

Mayor Sheehan commended their outstanding service in Fire & Emergency Services. “These Officers have demonstrated a commitment to the Department and the community through their years of service.” said Mayor Kathy Sheehan.

“I am extremely proud to have these fine Officers advance into the upper management ranks of our Department,” said Abriel.  “Their combined seventy-six years of service should serve the Department extremely well.  I know that their commitment to this Department, the citizens of Albany, and their fellow Firefighters is of the utmost importance to them.”
