Unity House to honor BBL Companies and the Breslin Family

Troy – Unity House will celebrate two honorees, BBL Companies and the Breslin Family, for their longstanding commitment to community service and to making the Capital Region a better place to live. Both BBL and the Breslins have been supporters of the Troy-based human services organization as well. They will be recognized at the “I Love Unity House Gala” on Friday, Feb. 13 at the Hilton Garden Inn in Troy.

                “We are thrilled to honor BBL Companies and the Breslin Family as true community heroes who have advanced the Unity House mission and continuously help the Capital Region through a commitment to service and philanthropy,” said Unity House CEO Chris Burke.

“The BBL Companies lead by example,” said Burke. “ The core values of this multi-layered organization incorporate integrity and a strong sense of client satisfaction.”

In addition to being Unity House’s partner in building The Front Door, Unity House’s headquarters and the center of its community service programs, BBL also regularly lends support through donations to programs and special events and through time volunteered by its employees.

“The Breslin family does so much for the Capital Region community every day,” Burke said.  “Inspired by their mother, Mary G. Breslin, who was an active community volunteer well  into her 90s, her adult children each make community service a priority.”

Neil Breslin is a New York State Senator and has done philanthropic work for Hope House, Arbor House, Hospitality House and the International Center.  Thomas A. Breslin is an Albany County Supreme Court Justice who is a former board chair of the Pine Hills Youth Center and a member of the Albany Tri-centennial Commission.  Michael Breslin is a former Albany County Executive and now an adjunct faculty member at the University at Albany. His volunteer work includes 20 years of board service for Hospitality House, and work with St. Anne Institute and the LaSalle School for Boys. He also coached youth baseball and softball for many years. Mark Breslin is president and owner of Maranda Technical. He has volunteered his time at LaSalle School for Boys. Marcia Breslin Mahoney  taught at Albany High School for many years and also volunteered at the LaSalle School for Boys in Albany; she is a member of the Catholic Women’s Service League and a supporter of Hope House.  Madeline Breslin Ogniewski is a nurse who also volunteered at both the LaSalle School and Hope House.
