Dr. Deborah Light Joins Albany Med

Primary Care Sports Medicine Specialist Joins Albany Medical Center

ALBANY, N.Y., September 3, 2014—Deborah Light, M.D., has joined Albany Medical Center’s Department of Medicine and Pediatrics and has been appointed assistant professor at Albany Medical College.

Dr. Light sees both adults and children, and specializes in sports concussion, non-operative management of musculoskeletal injuries and conditions, such as arthritis and acute and overuse injuries, injury prevention and sports performance. Her clinical practice includes diagnostic and interventional musculoskeletal ultrasound and computerized neuropsychological assessment for concussion.

She is the team physician for women’s soccer at Siena College and for all athletics at the Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences. She is also a panel physician for professional boxing and wrestling events for the New York State Athletic Commission, and has worked with USA Boxing on local youth events.

A graduate of the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry, Dr. Light completed a residency in internal medicine and pediatrics, and a fellowship in sports medicine at Albany Medical College.

Dr. Light is seeing patients at Albany Medical Center and Albany Medical Center’s Medicine-Pediatrics Group in Latham, where she is part of Albany Med’s new Sports Medicine Concussion Clinic.
