UAlbany's Former Campus Planner Hired as Albany's Director of Planning

CITY OF ALBANY HIRES A NEW DIRECTOR OF PLANNING

ALBANY, NY - - Mayor Kathy Sheehan is pleased to announce that the position of Director of the Planning Department has been filled by Christopher P. Spencer.

“I look forward to the strong leadership that Christopher will bring to our Planning Department and he will be an excellent resource to advance our efforts to create a “one-stop shop” permitting process. His breadth of experience along with his demonstrated commitment to working in the community will make him a valuable asset to our team,” Mayor Sheehan said.
Christopher most recently worked as a Campus Planner for the University at Albany and has a strong background in municipal planning. He is a graduate of Roger Williams University where he received a B.S. in Historic Preservation with a minor in Architecture. He received a Master in City Planning from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he focused in City Design and Development. Christopher has actively engaged in the communities that he has lived in, specifically through his volunteer efforts with the Rhode Island Statewide Planning Technical Committee, and Schenectady 2000.
